South Korean Ichthyologists Visit IHB

Prof. In-Chul Bang (R), leader of the South Korean visiting delegation, made a presentation during their stay at IHB.

A South Korean delegation consisting of six ichthyologists from Soonchunhyang University, Korea National Fisheries Research and Development Institute, Korea National Institute of Biological Resources, and Institute of Biological Diversity paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) during Oct. 14 and 17.

During their stay at the institute, the visiting scholars made four presentations for IHB scholars and students, introducing the conservation status and recovery of endangered fishes in South Korea, the reproductive biology of Korean endemic freshwater fish, and their reproductive strategies and molecular phylogenetics.

Later, the visiting South Korean scholars visited the Museum for Aquatic Organisms, Baiji Dolphinarium and some labs in the institute. Both sides negotiated about the possibilities of further cooperation in the fields of mutual interest, especially in the upcoming exploration of rivers in South Korea.
