IHB Researchers Attend 1st International Conference of Fish and Shellfish Immunology
Dr. Chang Mingxian gave an oral presentation at the First International Conference of Fish and Shellfish Immunology held in Vigo, Spain.
The First International Conference of Fish and Shellfish Immunology was held in Vigo, Spain from June 25 to 28, 2013. About 250 scholars from more than 20 countries attended the conference. In total, 350 abstracts were submitted to the organizing committee of the conference. 150 oral presentations as well as 162 posters were made at the conference. Prof. Zhang Yong-An and Associate Prof. Chang Mingxian from Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) participated in this conference.
The First International Conference of Fish and Shellfish Immunology was organized by the International Society of Fish and Shellfish Immunology (ISFSI). The organizing committee includes Institute of Marine Research (CSIS), University Miguel Hernandez, University of Santiago de Compostela and University of Vigo. 7 topics were featured at the conference: Innate immunity and immunomodulation, Vaccination and adaptative immunology, Host-pathogen interaction, Anti-viral response, Functional genomics and NGS in fish and shellfish immunology and Evolution of the immune response.
Fish immunologists from all Nordic countries initiated a collaboration to reduce diseases in aquaculture in 1990. The first meeting of the immunology group was held in Copenhagen during the same year. Since then, the conference took place in different countries every three years. At this conference held in Vigo, scholars from China, Cuba and the U.S. applied for hosting the 2nd International Conference of Fish and Shellfish Immunology.
