IHB Prof. Zhu Zuoyan Attends High Level Policy Dialogue Agricultural Biotechnology APEC Workshop

The High Level Policy Dialogue Agricultural Biotechnology APEC Workshop on Regulatory Issues on Emerging Agricultural Technologies were held June 25-26 in Medan, Indonesia. Experts and administrative principals from economic entities of Asia-Pacific regions had extensive discussion on the study and application of new technologies in agriculture.
At the invitation of both the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the organizing committee of the workshop, Prof. Zhu Zuoyan (academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences) from Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) attended the workshop and gave a keynote presentation entitled “The all-fish-transgenic common carp”. In his presentation, Prof. Zhu introduced the cultivation and industrial application of transgenic fish in China, safety regulations of transgenic animals in China, and the principles by which the evaluation of the safety of transgenic animals is conducted.
