19th UCAS-BHPB Scientific English Writing Class Held at IHB

 
The 19th UCAS-BHPB Scientific English Writing Class was held at IHB during July 14 and 17, 2014.
The 19th UCAS-BHPB Scientific English Writing Class, organized by the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), was held at Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) during July 14 and 17, 2014. 25 post-docs, Ph.D. students and post-graduate students attended this class. Prof. Warren Thomas Kellie from UCAS was the lecturer of this class.    

Prof. ZHU Xiangbin, Assistant Principal of UCAS, was present at the opening ceremony of the class on July 14. Prof. XIE Shouqi, deputy director of IHB, gave a welcome speech to all the participants.    

At the beginning of the writing class, Prof. Kellie first got acquainted with all the attendees, their English level in particular, and based on the general English level of all the attendees, he made a study plan that aimed to solve the typical problems in English writing for the four-day training.    

 
Prof. YIN Zhan, assistant director of IHB, together with Prof. Kellie, conferred the certificate of completion to all the attendees. 
 

Prof. Kellie has rich experience in teaching English writing. His language was vivid and humorous, simple and easy to understand. In the class, he listed some of the issues that need to be paid attention to when the writer writes the outline and the whole paper. He also illustrated some mistakes picked out from the papers submitted by the attendees. In consideration to the preparation of English CV, Prof. Kellie introduced tips on writing a successful CV. 
  

At the closing ceremony held on July 17, Prof. YIN Zhan, assistant director of IHB, together with Prof. Kellie, conferred the certificate of completion to all the attendees, eight of which were given with the awards of outstanding performance at the class.
