Prof. Günter Langergraber from University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna visits IHB

 
 Prof. Günter Langergraber from University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna, visited IHB on Oct. 22, 2014.
 

Prof. Günter Langergraber from University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna, paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobilogy (IHB) for academic exchanges on October 22, 2014. He gave the audiences an academic lecture entitled “Developments in constructed wetland (CW) technology in Austria” during his stay at IHB.   

At the beginning of the lecture, Prof. Langergraber gave a brief introduction on BOKU, including its organization structure, master and doctoral programs. Then he mainly focused on three aspects: wastewater treatment in Austria, two-stage vertical flow CW system for N removal and treatment performance of wetland in low temperature condition. Prof. Langergraber introduced the history and legal requirements of CWs in Austria and gave the audience a case of CW operated in winter. In the last part, Prof. Langergraber showed the different applications of two CW modeling, CW2D and CWM1 models, which were developed by Prof. Langergraber himself.   

IHB researchers and postgraduates participated actively in the lecture and exchanged their ideas about microbial community in CWs, how to maintain and manage CWs and CW modeling in China with Prof. Langergraber.
      

Prof. Günter Langergraber is the vice-head of institute of Sanitary Engineering and Water Pollution Control, BOKU, a member of the IWA Task Group, the coordinator of CFP6 and FP7 project and the IWA fellow. Prof. Wu Zhenbin has had wide and close cooperation with Prof. Günter Langergraber on EU project.
