IHB Researchers Attend International Symposium on Flood Pulse Ecosystems
IHB Prof. LIU Jiashou gave a keynote speech at the International Symposium on Flood Pulse Ecosystems.
The International Symposium on Flood Pulse Ecosystems, organized by the University of Battambang and Inland Fisheries Research and Development Institute, was held in Siem Reap, Cambodia from July 24 to 27, 2017. More than 100 researchers from different parts of the world attended the meeting. Five researchers from Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences were invited to attend the meeting.
Six sessions were included in the meeting: 1. population, community ecology and response; 2. food web ecology; 3. fishery, community management and ecosystem restoration; 4. socioeconomics, governance and livelihoods; 5. hydropower and river catchment management; 6. hydrology and sediment.
There were six keynote speeches, 48 oral presentations and more than 50 posters were made at the meeting. IHB Prof. LIU Jiashou gave an oral presentation with the title of “Small-sized fish community structure and fisheries management based on biodiversity restoration and water quality protection in a lower Yangtze floodplain lake”. IHB Associate Prof. YE Shaowen, Associate Prof. LI Wei, Assistant Prof. GUO Chuanbo and Ph.D. student YU Jixin also gave oral presentations.
The objective of the International Symposium on Flood pulse Ecosystems (ISFE) is to provide a platform for national, regional and international researchers/scientists to present their research findings in tropical flood pulse ecosystems. During the symposium, IHB researchers interacted with Ms.Sieng Emtotim, president of University of Battambang. Both sides agreed that the signing of the Sino-Cambodia One Belt One Road Cooperation Plan Outline provided a good opportunity for further communication between IHB and the University of Battambang.
