IHB Pushes Forward Bilateral Cooperation with University of Florence

Roberto De Philippis, Professor of University of Florence and former president of International Society for Applied Phycology, paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences on March 20, 2019 to further push forward the bilateral cooperation between both sides.
Prof. MIAO Wei, deputy director of IHB, welcomed Prof. De Philippis. Prof. De Philippis introduced the background against which the University of Florence signed the agreement of cultural and scientific cooperation. He also reviewed his relationship with IHB, especially his personal friendship with IHB Prof. LIU Yongding. Both sides hoped to widen the scopes for the bilateral cooperation.
All the attendees who met with Prof. De Philippis had in-depth communication on issues of mutual interests. IHB professors hoped to push forward the academic exchange between researchers and students. They said that the Belt and Road Initiative, the Sino-Europe S&T Cooperation Program and the student exchange program of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences are good programs to support the exchange visits.
IHB professors also suggested that a work group to be established to better plan the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in the next four to five years.
