Deputy Director General of Changjiang Waterway Bureau Visits IHB

 

A fifteen-member delegation led by WANG Jianbin, deputy director general of Changjiang Waterway Bureau, paid a visit to IHB on Jan.9, 2018. 

A fifteen-member delegation led by WANG Jianbin, deputy director general of Changjiang Waterway Bureau, paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences on Jan.9, 2018. Together with him were HE Chuanjin, director of Changjiang Waterway Improvement Center; YIN Hong, deputy director of Changjiang Waterway Improvement Center; HU Xiaoqing, vice president of Changjiang Chongqing Harbor and Waterway Engineering Investigation and Design Institute; and LI Ming, vice director of Changjiang Waterway Institute of Planning, Design and Research. During their visit, they discussed the construction and ecological protection of the Yangtze River waterway with IHB scientists.    

At the seminar arranged for this trip, Prof. XIE Shouqi, deputy director of IHB, gave a welcome speech. WANG Jianbin, deputy director general of Changjiang Waterway Bureau, introduced the background and purposes for this investigation: based on the ecological concept that focusing on the conservation rather than large-scale development, the Changjiang Waterway Bureau will conduct construction of the ecological waterway of the Yangtze River route. It is hoped that the ecological conservation concept will be applied to the whole process of the construction. He hoped IHB could provide support to solve some existing problems.    

Later, the attendees discussed issues related to the construction of ecological waterway, conservation of porpoises and fishery resources, protection of aquatic resources, influence of improvement project of waterways and so on.   

WANG Jianbin hoped this visit could strengthen cooperation with IHB. XIE Shouqi hoped by extensive and in-depth interaction, IHB and the Changjiang Waterway Bureau could join hands to serve the construction of the Yangtze River economic belt and ecological civilization.
