2017 Annual Meeting of Weishan Lake Scientific Research Station of Environment and Fishery Held

 

The 2017 Annual Meeting of Weishan Lake Scientific Research Station of Environment and Fishery was held on February 3, 2018.    

WANG Yi, deputy county mayor of Weishan county, appreciated the work that had been done for the past year at the Weishan Research Station. He hoped the Station could do more contribution to the fishery development and water quality protection    

IHB Prof. XIE Songguang who is the principal of the Weishan Research Station gave an annual work report of the Station.  He focused on artificial propagation and larvae culture of Odontobutis obscura, biological invasions in lakes along the east route of South to North Water Transfer Project and monitoring of lake environment and aquatic biological resources. He also put forth the work plan for 2018. IHB Ph.D student QIN Jiao and Master Student XIANG Miao reported their research progresses “Biolocal invasions in Nansi Lake” and “Artificial propagation and larvae culture of Odontobutis obscura” respectively.   

The Weishan Lake Scientific Research Station of Environment and Fishery was jointly constructed by Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Weishan County People’s Government. It was established on June 19, 2017. It studies the threats that Weishan Lake faces in ecological environment and fishery, conducts long-term monitoring and pre-warning studies on ecosystem of Weishan Lake and evaluates fishery resources. It technically ensures the water quality of the South to North Water Transfer Project and provides scientific support for the regional economic sustainable development.
