Vice Governor of Hubei Visits IHB

 

A five-member delegation led by ZHOU Xianwang, vice governor of Hubei Province, paid a visit to IHB on February 26, 2018.  

A five-member delegation led by ZHOU Xianwang, vice governor of Hubei Province, paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences on February 26, 2018. The trip was to investigate the scientific innovation on agriculture.   

Prof. ZHAO Jindong (CAS academician), director of IHB, welcomed the visiting delegation. Zhao introduced how IHB scientists made endeavors to serve the national economy and local development since the 1950s. Prof. CAO Wenxuan (CAS academician) and Prof. GUI Jianfang (CAS academician) introduced IHB’s scientific strengths in ecological protection and aquaculture. As far as the food and environment safety are concerned, they also suggested the new aquaculture patterns be promoted in the whole province.    

In his closing remarks, the vice governor fully affirmed the outstanding contribution IHB had made in the protection of aquatic resources, construction of water environment ecology and scientific innovation on agriculture. He said that with a long history, IHB had cultivated many talents and generated dozens of achievements. He hoped the experts could utilize the agricultural resources in Hubei and conduct transformation of major research achievements so as to enhance the scientific innovation ability of agriculture.
