Professors from Jimei University and Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry Visit IHB
Prof. XIE Chaotian from Jimei University visited IHB on February 15, 2019.
Prof. XIE Chaotian from Jimei University as well as Prof. LI Chengyu from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences on February 15, 2019. During their visit, they gave oral presentations respectively.
Professor Xie introduced the functional characteristics, economic value, breeding methods, breeding problems and solutions of Porphyra haitanensis. Focused on the key problems of "rotten vegetables at high temperature", he elaborated the breeding method and molecular mechanism of "Minfeng No. 1", a high-yielding and high-temperature resistant variety of Porphyra haitanensis.
Based on the characteristics of rare earth luminescent materials, Prof. Li introduced the application principles of rare earth luminescent materials in LED, agriculture, temperature detection and other fields.
Professor Xie is the executive director of Chinese Fishery Society, vice president of Fujian Fishery Society, and scientist of Porphyra haitanensis breeding in modern agricultural industry technology system under Ministry of Agriculture. He is mainly engaged in the breeding and high-efficiency cultivation technology of fine varieties of Porphyra haitanensis, the functional genomics of seaweed and the molecular mechanism of stress tolerance.
Prof. Li is currently deputy director of State Key Laboratory of Rare Earth Resource Utilization, director of the Chinese Society of Rare Earth, secretary-general of Luminescence Committee of the Chinese Society of Rare Earth, and vice chairman of Agricultural Lighting Committee of China Illuminating Science Society. He is mainly engaged in the research and development, application and industrial promotion of rare earth functional materials.
