GUO Zhiwei, deputy director general of Department of Basic Research under Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences on March 12, 2019.    

The delegation led by Guo visited Baiji Dolphinarium and learned the living status and conservation of the Yangtze finless porpoises. He watched the second finless porpoise which was successfully bred in captivity on June 2, 2018, and inquired about the living conditions of its mother.    

The visiting delegation also visited the Freshwater Algae Culture Collection which is the largest in China and China Zebrafish Resource Center.    

They visited the Museum for Aquatic Organisms -- Asia's largest freshwater fish museum and were deeply impressed by the 90 years’ historic development of the institute.    

IHB’s deputy director YIN Zhan gave an overall report on the operation of the state key lab and national freshwater biological resources bank.
