IHB Joins 2020 National Science Day of Hubei

The launch ceremony of the 2020 National Science Day of Hubei was held in Suizhou, Hubei province on September 18. As one of the institutes under the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Hubei, Institute of Hydrobiolog (IHB) joined the Science Day activity.   

20 species of microalgae living germplasm resources, as well as microalgae based raw materials including Nostoc sphaeroides, Chlorella, and Haematococcus, were on display.    

IHB volunteers also sent out brochures and invited the participants to use the microscope to observe microalgae.   

In order to get the public more familiar with the algae, they introduced the important roles that algae played in ecosystem, how algae bloom threats the ecology, and the utilization of microalgae for economic applications.    

There are in total 56 exhibition booths featuring six sections – research achievements, popular science, exhibition for youngsters, featured industry, and rural revitalization.    

Over 40 universities, institutes and enterprises from Hubei participated in the activity.
