IHB Joins Hands with Bureau under MEE to Protect Ecology of Pearl River Basin

Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, represented by Prof. XU Jun, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Monitoring and Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (MRCES), Ecology and Environment Administration of Pearl River Valley and South China Sea, Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE), represented by WEN Ping, director of the MRCES, on December 16.
According to the agreement, IHB will establish a long-term partnership with the MRCES in multiple fields, with the aim of protecting the ecological environment and water resources of the Pearl River Basin.
The cooperation will provide theoretic and technological support for the sustainable development of freshwater fishery in the Pearl River Basin.
“We are concerned about the ecological environment protection of the Pearl River Basin. Hopefully, our collaboration will enhance our overall innovative ability in the studies of life processes of aquatic organisms, ecological environment protection and utilization of biological resources,” said HUANG Jianqiang, director general of the Ecology and Environment Administration of Pearl River Valley and South China Sea under the MEE.
