IHB Holds International Women's Day Seminar

Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) celebrated the 111th International Women’s Day by hosting a seminar on women’s reproductive health, on March 10, 2020. The speaker was Prof ZHANG Yuanzhen from the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University.    

Prof. Zhang introduced the definition of reproductive health. Touching on female breast care, cervical cancer prevention and screening, female fertility and climacteric, Zhang emphasized the importance of a balanced diet, enough sleep, good exercise and optimistic attitude. “Women’s mental health is essential to the family well-being,” Zhang said.    

In the discussion session, attendees consulted Prof. Zhang about HPV vaccines, and other health problems.    

Prof. Zhang is a professor, chief physician, and doctoral student tutor of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University. She has undertaken over ten research projects, and has been awarded two first prizes of Hubei Science and Technology Progress. Zhang has published over one hundred papers, including 16 papers listed in SCI and EI, and six monographs (chief editor or associate chief editor). In 2009, she was granted government special allowance by the State Council. In 2013, she was included in Hubei First Medical Pacesetters Project.
