Prof. TANG Yingzhong from the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences paid a visit to the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on April 8, 2021.
During his visit, he gave an oral presentation with the title of “Exploration on the ecological mechanism of frequent outbreak and geographical divergence of marine harmful algae” for IHB scholars and students.
In his presentation, he showed the internal factors of algae forming water bloom from three different aspects - toxins to predator and allelopathy to competitor; special life cycle, i.e., resting cyst; and special nutritional modes.
He also shared his unforgettable experiences and life reflections on research, and pointed that interest was the best teacher and motivation.
Prof. Tang has long been engaged in phytoplankton ecology and achieved some international frontier achievements in nutritional ecology marine harmful algae, life cycle and resting cyst of dinoflagellate, ecotoxicology, and allelopathy.
Prof. Tang also participated in the mini-seminar on effects of water microorganism on water productivity and biocarbon cycle organized by Center for Microalgae Biotechnology and Biofuel.
