The Forum on Cottonseed Protein Industry (Credit: IHB)

The Forum on Cottonseed Protein Industry was held at the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on April 26, 2021. More than 200 experts and scholars from 40 universities, institutes and enterprises attended the forum.    

MIAO Wei, deputy director of IHB, welcomed the attendees. Prof. MAI Kangsen, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and professor of Ocean University of China, said that it was urgent to look for new protein sources in the context of fish meal shortage.    

Ten topics were featured at the forum, covering fields of domestic cottonseed industry development and processing, application of cottonseed in fishery, and cottonseed’s role in fish growth and immunology.
