A delegation led by XIAO Juhua, vice governor of Hubei, visited Professors CAO Wenxuan and GUI Jianfang, two members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, at the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on January 26, 2022. Her delegation included DING Hui, the deputy secretary-general of the provincial government, and WANG Wei, the director of the Department of Science and Technology of Hubei.   

The vice governor sent her New Year's greeting and blessings to Professors Cao and Gui, and expressed her deep gratitude and high regard for their significant contributions in the fields of Yangtze River ecological protection and fish genetic breeding.   

Xiao inquired about the professors’health and life, and listened to their opinions and suggestions on the 10-year fishing ban in the Yangtze River and the development of freshwater fisheries.   

She also introduced to the professors the economic and social development, science and technology innovation initiatives, as well as the transfer and transformation of major achievements in Hubei in 2021. She hoped the professors would help promote high-quality economic and social development as well as science and technology in Hubei.    

During the visit, the vice governor’s delegation also visited the Historical Development Museum of the institute.
