As Wuhan has entered the summer flood season, it will soon be in the grip of scorching heat waves. The 2021 and 2022 special renovation projects of the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences are still under construction during this heatwave.    

XIE Shouqi, deputy director of IHB, together with staff from the Office of Assets and Facilities Management, visited the construction workers who are working in the scorching heat at the construction sites of the renovation projects.   

Xie learned about the construction progress and current difficulties of the project, and observed the construction and accommodation conditions of the workers.    

“Safety during construction and workers' personal safety must be a priority, especially during a heatwave of high temperatures,”Xie said.    

In addition, Xie stressed that the person responsible for the construction project should develop a reasonable construction plan and implement cooling and heat emergency plans.
