Deputy Director General of National Forestry and Grassland Administration Visits IHB

A seven-member delegation led by TAN Guangming, deputy director general of National Forestry and Grassland Administration, visited the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on November 9, 2022.  

At the institute's Baiji Dolphninarium, Prof. WANG Ding introduced the current status of Yangtze finless porpoise population, its relocation and conservation, and captive breeding to the visiting delegation. The delegation also visited the breeding hall where they greeted the two-year porpoise "Hanbao" close through the underwater observation window.   

At the institute’s Museum of Historical Development, IHB’s director YIN Zhan introduced the 92-year development history of the institute, as well as the planning and construction of the institute and its field stations.    

Prof. LI Tao demonstrated some of the rare aquatic plant resources and introduced the conservation and breeding of endangered aquatic plants and the construction of the sterile seed bank of aquatic plants. Senior Engineer ZENG Honghui introduced the Hydrobiology Big Data Center.   

At the Museum of Hydrobiological Sciences, the delegation inquired about the protection of rare and endangered species in the Yangtze River.
