The Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences signed a framework cooperation agreement with Kunming Municipal Government on November 24, 2022.    

According to the agreement, the collaboration will include a variety of issues, including S&T collaboration, personnel training and exchange, field station and academician workstation co-construction, and others.   

“In the current situation and with new requirements, IHB will focus on research and development needs related to research and new technology for Lake Dianchi. We will conduct close cooperation in multiple fields, levels and disciplines, including Dianchi ecosystem state conversion, control of algal blooms, resource utilization, restoration of ecosystems in lake, and protection and research of aquatic biodiversity,”said YIN Zhan, director of IHB.    

In order to better assist in the management of Lake Dianchi, Yin also hoped to forge long-term strategic alliances with the Kunming Municipal Government, management departments at all levels, and research institutions.   

“We hope that by combining IHB’s strengths in freshwater ecology, aquatic biology, aquaculture and biotechnology, we can further contribute to the protection and management of Lake Dianchi by working closely with relevant units in Kunming,”said ZHANG Qinxun, vice mayor of Kunming.
