A delegation led by HUANG Haiyou, director general of Bureau of Ecology and Environment of Yingtan City, visited the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on January 31, 2023.

Both sides exchanged views on further deepening the work related to the prevention and control of cyanobacterial blooms and water environmental protection in Xinjiang River, one of the five major river systems in the Jiangxi province in China.

XIE Shouqi, deputy director of IHB, introduced the institute’s research foundation in cyanobacterial bloom prevention and control, water pollution management and water ecological restoration.

HUANG Haiyou introduced the purpose of the visit. “First, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Prof. FANG Tao and his team for their tireless efforts in the field during the cyanobacterial bloom outbreak in the Xinjiang River,”said Huang. In 2022, the team led by Prof. Fang provided technical assistance for the urgent management of cyanobacterial blooms in the Xinjiang River.

“We also expect to begin a deeper level of communication and collaboration with IHB, and we hope IHB will continue to use its professional, technological and talent advantages in water environmental protection to support the control of cyanobacterial blooms and water pollution management in Yingtan,”Huang added.

Director HUANG Haiyou presented a silk banner to IHB on behalf of the Bureau of Ecology and Environment of Yingtan City to acknowledge the assistance the research team of IHB gave in the prevention and control of cyanobacterial blooms in the Xinjiang River.
