On March 22-23, a delegation led by ZHENG Binghui, Professor of the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES) and director of the National Engineering Laboratory for Lake Pollution Control and Ecological Restoration, along with JIANG Xia, director of the Institute of Lake Ecology and Environment Research under CRAES, visited the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

During the visit, the delegation conducted on-site inspections and discussed the optimization and integration of the national engineering laboratory. They expressed full affirmation of the construction and operation of the laboratory, as well as the restoration of aquatic vegetation in the Donghu Aquatic Ecological Restoration Project.

LIANG Qiong, the institute's deputy director, delivered a welcome speech expressing gratitude to the delegation for their support and concern for the institute's scientific research work. She emphasized the institute's commitment to leveraging its technological advantages and closely integrating with the national water ecological civilization construction needs to provide scientific and technological support.

Prof. ZHOU Qiaohong, the chief engineer of the national engineering laboratory, reported on the laboratory's construction progress, while JIANG Xia proposed establishing a close cooperative relationship at the overall strategic level and multiple levels and dimensions.

Director ZHENG Binghui suggested consolidating and strengthening the research foundation in platform construction and broadening the research results in technology research and development, with the goal of advancing practical and innovative technology to achieve results transformation.

Prof. WU Zhenbin stated that the institute would further strengthen cooperation, leveraging its advantages in wetland and aquatic ecological restoration to promote research and engineering applications in water ecological civilization construction.

During the visit, the delegation also visited the Historical Development Museum and Museum of Hydrobiological Sciences of the institute.

In October 2016, a team composed of CRAES, IHB, and other units received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission to establish the National Engineering Laboratory for Lake Pollution Control and Ecological Restoration. IHB is the second unit and responsible for the construction of the Wetland and Aquatic Ecological Restoration Technology R&D Center and related scientific research projects. Prof. WU Zhenbin served as a member of the council and vice director of the laboratory.
