Officials from Honghu City Visit IHB

Executive Vice Chairman CHEN Xiang of the Standing Committee of the Honghu Municipal People's Congress and Vice Mayor YIN Heng visited the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on March 24th to seek advice from experts on water ecological restoration in relation to Honghu.    

The Head of the Office of Research and Technology Development, HE Feng, welcomed the delegation and expressed his hope to promote collaboration between the academy and the local government, using Honghu's ecological restoration as a model.    

During the visit, IHB Professor LIU Biyun presented the team's research achievements in restoring major degraded lakes in China and provided updates on water ecological protection and restoration in Honghu.    

CHEN Xiang consulted the experts on important issues related to the integrated protection and restoration project of mountains, water, forests, fields, lakes, grass, and sand in Honghu.    

The participants discussed the expected impact of water ecological restoration, the configuration of aquatic plants, and the impact of introducing exotic species on the ecosystem.    

YIN Heng expressed appreciation to the institute's experts for their support and expressed his hope to deepen cooperation to provide technological support for Honghu's ecological environment protection.    

IHB has been researching resource utilization and protection in the Honghu area since the 1970s. Over the past decade, IHB Professor WU Zhenbin's team has conducted research on degradation mechanisms and ecological restoration technology related to ecological protection and restoration in Honghu.
