In an effort to promote the development of postdoctoral funding and support the training of young talents, the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences recently organized a special exchange and discussion meeting on the 2023 Postdoctoral Funding Assistance and Research Assistantship. The event, which took place on March 28th, was attended by 33 participants, including postdoctoral fellows, research assistants, and doctoral students.   

The meeting was presided over by ZHANG Mi, deputy head of the Office of Human Resources and Education, who provided guidance on the application requirements of various types of projects funded by the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, the overall funding situation in 2022, and the funding obtained by the institute in recent years.   

In addition, Dr. DING Miao and Dr. KONG Weiguang shared their experiences of successfully applying for postdoctoral funding, providing valuable insights and tips on selecting topics, designing proposals, condensing innovative ideas, and expressing them clearly in writing.   

The meeting concluded with a lively discussion on the relevant details of the funding application process. Participants expressed their opinions on their current development status and future plans, and shared some of the difficulties and problems they encountered. They also expressed their hopes to receive more guidance and support from the institute in the future.   

The meeting served as a valuable platform for the advancement of postdoctoral funding and the cultivation of young talents.
