Professor from Hong Kong Metropolitan University Visits IHB

On April 7th, Professor Paul Kwan Sing LAM from Hong Kong Metropolitan University was invited to the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to deliver a lecture titled "Managing toxic substances in the environment" to scientists and graduate students.    

During his lecture, Professor Lam presented his research results on the ecological risk assessment of persistent toxic substances. He emphasized the importance of risk assessment factors such as pollutant isomers, metabolite toxicity, and transgenerational toxicity, drawing on years of research experience and the latest scientific advancements. He also predicted the potential application value of artificial intelligence in the field of environmental risk assessment.    

Professor Lam is currently president and Chair Professor of Environmental Chemistry of Hong Kong Metropolitan University. His research interests are in the areas of ecology, eco-toxicology, environmental toxicology and risk assessment, with special emphasis on the environmental transport and biological effects of emerging chemicals of concern. He has published over 460 articles in international academic journals and has been responsible for over 30 major government consultancy projects in the environmental field.
