Academic Committee Members of Key Laboratory of Breeding Biotechnology and Sustainable Aquaculture Visit IOCAS

On May 29th, 2023, a delegation of six members including Professor YIN Zhan, director of the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, deputy director HU Wei, Professor XU Zhen, and Professor SUN Yonghua, who are academic committee members of the Key Laboratory of Breeding Biotechnology and Sustainable Aquaculture, visited the Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS) to learn about the progress of the key laboratory's related research teams.   

The director of IOCAS, WANG Fan, extended a warm welcome to the delegation from IHB. The teams from the Key Laboratory of Breeding Biotechnology and Sustainable Aquaculture at IOCAS introduced their team compositions, work foundations, and future plans. The committee members raised questions and engaged in discussions on matters of interest. Additionally, both institutes shared experiences in research platform construction, talent recruitment, and performance evaluation.   

In his concluding remarks, YIN Zhan said that in the next steps, the laboratory will focus on resource allocation, setting up cross-disciplinary teams, and deploying key projects. It will align with national strategic needs and global technological frontiers, keeping in mind its mission, to organize and carry out core breakthroughs, actively promoting the development of the laboratory.   

The Key Laboratory of Breeding Biotechnology and Sustainable Aquaculture, jointly established by IOCAS and the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is based on the foundation of IHB. This laboratory concentrates on aquatic breeding and efficient aquaculture, providing technological support for the high-quality development of aquaculture.
