On August 23, the results of the 2024 National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) evaluation were announced. The Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was awarded 43 projects, the highest number in the past five years.
The approved projects include one National Distinguished Youth Science Fund, one Excellent Youth Science Fund, two key projects, 16 general projects, 22 Youth Science Funds, and one Foreign Scholar Research Fund, with a total funding of 25.42 million yuan. Seven additional projects, including regional innovation development joint funds and international cooperation programs, are still under review.
In recent years, with increasing competition for NSFC funding, IHB has placed great emphasis on the application process. The institute aligns with national strategies and industry needs, strengthens top-level design, and continuously improves application quality.
After the 2024 guidelines were released on January 11, IHB organized several exchanges and workshops to prepare researchers for the application process.
Moving forward, IHB will continue to provide support and management to ensure successful project implementation and research goals.
