On the morning of October 31, JIANG Huohua, director of the Department of Ecological and Environmental Monitoring under the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, led a delegation to visit the Donghu Experimental Station of Lake Ecosystems at the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The visit focused on discussions to advance water ecological protection and management for East Lake.

XIE Shouqi, deputy director of IHB, warmly welcomed the delegation and outlined IHB’s rich history and key achievements in studying inland aquatic ecosystems, ecological conservation, and biological resource utilization.

CHEN Jun, director of Donghu Experimental Station, provided a comprehensive overview of the station’s significant progress in long-term ecological monitoring, research, and technology dissemination. She highlighted the successful application of non-classical biomanipulation theory to control cyanobacterial blooms in East Lake and shared insights into the station’s contributions to regional limnological studies and the stable-state transformation of shallow lakes in the Yangtze River Basin.

Following a field visit and presentation, Jiang praised the station's achievements and underscored the importance of applying its long-term research findings to lake management practices across the middle and lower Yangtze River regions. He emphasized the critical need for advanced technologies in intelligent monitoring, pollution control, and ecological restoration to support the Yangtze River Conservation initiative.

Jiang further emphasized that the station’s research should serve as a theoretical and technical foundation to guide national strategies for ecological and environmental protection.
