In a step toward deepening ties in the joint graduate training program, a delegation from Tibet University visited the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on November 14, 2024. The group, led by vice president FANG Jiangping and key faculty members, met with IHB leadership, mentors, and students to discuss the progress of their joint graduate training program and explore future collaborations.

During the visit, IHB director MIAO Wei highlighted the achievements of the joint training program, describing it as a model for collaboration. “This partnership has not only nurtured talented students but also laid a strong foundation for further scientific cooperation,” he said.

The program, launched to combine resources and expertise from both institutions, supports students with scholarships, housing, and research opportunities. Faculty member ZHAO Donghui provided insights into the program, noting its success in equipping students for careers in science and sustainability.

The meeting also included open discussions, where mentors and students shared their experiences. Supervisors offered advice on transitioning to doctoral programs and balancing coursework with research. Students raised questions about their academic paths, and the delegation from Tibet University provided thoughtful responses and practical solutions.

Vice president Fang expressed his gratitude to IHB for supporting Tibet University’s early efforts to develop its ecology program. “This partnership has been vital for building capacity in ecological research,” Fang said, urging continued collaboration to serve national strategies and advance ecological civilization.

The visit concluded with heartfelt encouragement for the students, with the Tibet University team reminding them to “stay connected and come back to visit often.”

With a shared vision for advancing ecological science and nurturing young talent, IHB and Tibet University are setting the stage for impactful collaboration that addresses global environmental challenges.
