IHB Conducts Safety Inspection Ahead of Spring Festival
On January 17, 2025, LIANG Qiong, deputy director of the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, led a safety inspection ahead of the Spring Festival. Staff from the General Office, logistics managers from various campuses, and other relevant personnel took part in the inspection.
The inspection team visited key areas, including the power distribution room, pump room, and fire control room at the main campus, the water ecological evaluation platform construction site, dormitories, and cafeteria at the Guanquan campus, as well as the gatehouse, algae cultivation base, power distribution room, and Building C2 at the Liangzi Lake base.
Overall, the safety conditions at the campuses were good, and safety management practices were largely in place. However, some issues were identified, including incomplete daily inspection records, delayed maintenance of surveillance systems, and inadequate identification of potential risks.
Liang emphasized the importance of safety and responsibility, stressing that incidents are more likely to occur at the end of the year and the start of the new year. The focus should be on preventing fire risks in winter and preparing for low temperatures and snow during the colder months. Research groups and departments are advised to improve coordination, conduct thorough safety checks and corrections, assign responsible personnel for critical areas, and ensure emergency contacts during the holiday season to guarantee safety and stability during the Spring Festival.
