Changjiang Daily Press Group Visits IHB to Strengthen Collaboration on Conservation and Science Communication

On February 25,2025, a delegation from the Changjiang Daily Press Group, including CHEN Xiaorong, deputy general manager, and QIN Jie, editor-in-chief of Wuhan Release, visited the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on science communication related to the ecological protection of the Yangtze River.
During the meeting, deputy general manager CHEN Xiaorong and editor-in-chief QIN Jie introduced the work of the Changjiang Daily Press Group and Wuhan Release, expressing their desire to strengthen collaboration with IHB. IHB Profs. LIU Huanzhang and HAO Yujiang shared insights into their respective fields and proposed practical suggestions for science communication efforts.
MIAO Wei, director of IHB, emphasized the enduring collaboration between the Changjiang Daily and IHB. He stated, "IHB has played a leading role in the conservation of aquatic biodiversity in the Yangtze River and was instrumental in proposing the '10-year fishing ban' initiative. At the same time, the Changjiang Daily has been a powerful voice in advocating for the river's ecological protection." He added that over the past 20 years, the two institutions have worked closely together, witnessing significant milestones in the efforts to protect the Yangtze River.
Looking ahead to 2025, which marks IHB's 95th anniversary, Miao expressed optimism about future collaboration. "This is an important moment to strengthen our partnership in scientific research, and enhance public communication efforts," he said. "Together, we can share the story of Yangtze River conservation and amplify IHB's contributions to this critical cause."
