On the morning of April 8, 2025, LIU Weijian, who oversees graduate student affairs at Dalian Ocean University, and ZHAO Wantong, counselor at the College of Fisheries and Life Science, visited the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. LIAO Caiping, deputy head of the Office of Personnel and Talent Management, along with representatives of joint-training master's students, attended the meeting.

The two sides held in-depth discussions on various aspects of the joint-training program, including students’ academic progress, campus life, and future employment. GUO Yulun, who oversees the joint-training program at Dalian Ocean University, shared updates on students’ research activities, career development, scholarship opportunities, housing, and insurance arrangements. ZHAO Wantong introduced the history and academic strengths of Dalian Ocean University and provided an overview of recent developments at the College of Fisheries and Life Science in discipline building, talent training, faculty development, research initiatives, and technology transfer.

LIU Weijian provided a detailed explanation of two newly released documents effective in 2025—the Provisional Regulations for the Administration of Master's Degree Awards and the Provisional Regulations for the Administration of Master's Theses—urging students to familiarize themselves with the new requirements.

During the open discussion, both sides exchanged ideas on new approaches to organizing activities for joint-training students and addressed students' concerns about English language requirements and examinations.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the students' laboratories and accommodation facilities.

This exchange helped to spark new ideas for improving the joint-training mechanism and enhancing the talent development system. Moving forward, both sides aim to strengthen cooperation not only in graduate training, but also in research collaboration and resource sharing, contributing to the cultivation of high-level talent in the field of fisheries.
