On April 9, 2025, the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Shennongjia National Park Administration signed a framework agreement to establish a long-term partnership focused on biodiversity research and ecological conservation.

According to the agreement, the two parties will collaborate on biodiversity surveys, wetland ecosystem assessments, restoration projects, and research on the impacts of climate change. The partnership also aims to promote the sharing of scientific resources, foster professional training, and advance the development of Shennongjia National Park as a model for nature conservation and ecological civilization.

Following the signing ceremony, representatives from both sides discussed specific cooperation initiatives, including baseline surveys in remote areas of the park, the development of a biological specimen exhibition hall, and ecological research at the Dajiu Lake Wetland Research Station.

The new collaboration is expected to integrate research strengths, support national ecological strategies, and contribute to the protection and sustainable development of Shennongjia’s unique natural heritage.
