The Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences convened its second Sci-Tech Capacity Forum on May 23, 2025, equipping researchers with cutting-edge skills in flow cytometry and genomic analysis. The forum attracted nearly 70 scientists and graduate students seeking to enhance their technical expertise.
Senior Engineer WANG Yan demonstrated how advanced flow cytometry techniques – including single-cell analysis and imaging applications – are transforming research in aquatic ecosystems and disease studies.
Engineer QIAO Zhixian followed with a deep dive into next-generation sequencing solutions, showcasing how multi-omics approaches are accelerating discoveries in microbial communities and cellular mapping. Her session covered breakthroughs in single-cell genomics, spatial transcriptomics, and microbiome analysis, alongside practical examples of their implementation. She also introduced the institute’s Genomics Cloud Platform, which offers customized bioinformatics solutions for researchers.
The forum concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where participants discussed technical challenges and emerging trends in biotechnology.
