On August 8-11, 2025, the 12th Member Congress and 23rd Academic Symposium of the Chinese Protozoological Society was held in Zhengzhou, Henan. Organized by the society and hosted by Henan Agricultural University, the event gathered nearly 500 participants from over 100 universities and research institutions across China. A delegation of 38 researchers from the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences took part in the conference.

During the symposium, Prof. MIAO Wei delivered a plenary report titled "The Colorful World of Protists: The 10,000 Protist Genomes Project." Additional presentations were given by IHB researchers GONG Yingchun, LONG Huan, and JIANG Mixue.

The Member Congress elected the 12th Council of the society, with Prof. MIAO Wei appointed as chair and Prof. XIONG Jie as secretary-general. Profs. HUANG Kaiyao, GONG Yingchun, LI Ming, and HUANG Jie were elected as council members. The next academic symposium is scheduled for 2027 in Jilin City, Jilin Province.
