Water Biology and Security Selected for CSCD Core Collection

The Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD) recently announced its 2025–2026 list of source journals, and Water Biology and Security (WBS), an English journal published by the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has been included in the CSCD Core Collection.

Launched in February 2022, WBS covers interdisciplinary research in aquatic biodiversity and conservation, water environment and ecological security, and fisheries and aquatic product safety. The journal is published by KeAi and has already been indexed in several major databases, including ESCI, Scopus, DOAJ, and CSCD. It was also selected for the "Excellence Action Plan for Chinese Sci-Tech Journals—High-Starting New Journal" initiative in 2022.

WBS has achieved a 2024 Impact Factor of 4.4, ranking Q1 in both "Fisheries" and "Marine & Freshwater Biology." Its 2024 CiteScore stands at 6.6, placing it in Q1 across four categories: "Animal Science and Zoology," "Agricultural and Biological Sciences (miscellaneous)," "Aquatic Science," and "Water Science and Technology."

Established in 1989, CSCD is a key citation database in China, covering core journals in natural sciences, engineering, and health sciences. Its biennially updated 2025–2026 collection includes 1,464 journals, comprising 418 English-language and 1,046 Chinese-language publications.
