Water Biology and Security Selected for China STEM Journal Excellence Action Plan - High Starting Point New Publication Project

According to a notice issued by the China Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan Office on September 21, 2022, the journal Water Biology and Security (ISSN: 2772-7351, WBS for short), owned by the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, stood out from 177 submitted projects and was selected for the high starting point new publication project under the China STEM Journal Excellence Action Plan.    

Water Biology & Security is an open access journal publishing original, high-quality research on all aspects of water biology relating to aquatic organisms and water security, with Prof. GUI Jianfang from IHB and Prof. Robert M. Hughes, former president of the American Fisheries Society, serving as the editors-in-chief, and Prof. MIAO Wei serving as the associate editor. The editorial board is composed of 74 well-known experts and scholars from home and abroad, and the team covers 14 countries and regions in Asia, Europe, America and Oceania.   

WBS was first published in February 2022, and so far, it has been published quarterly for three issues. The journal is currently indexed in DOAJ, Scopus, and other internationally renowned databases.    

The China Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan, jointly implemented by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Press and Publication Administration, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, is the most powerful project attracting the most funds and receiving the widest range of support in sci-tech periodicals in China.
