IHB Welcomes New Graduate Students for 2025 Academic Year

The Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences held its opening ceremony and orientation activities for the 2025 cohort of graduate students on September 10, 2025.
In his welcome address, MIAO Wei, director of IHB, urged new students to embrace the challenges and opportunities of their graduate journey. "As you begin your studies in this new era of science, I encourage you to adapt quickly, engage fully with our community, and remember that our doors are always open to support you," he stated. "We look to you to pursue your training with diligence, align your personal ambitions with the nation's scientific goals, and grow into the responsible leaders our future needs."
Deputy director XIE Shouqi encouraged students to carry forward the spirit of scientists, adhere to research ethics and academic standards, and strive to become high-level talents with both professional capability and moral integrity.
Deputy director XU Jun gave a presentation on IHB's history and development. Tracing over 90 years of the institute's progress, he highlighted IHB's significant contributions to national water ecological and environmental protection, as well as biological resources conservation and utilization. He also elaborated on IHB's strategic plans and development goals in undertaking major national S&T tasks.
Staff from the Graduate Education Office provided detailed introductions on research integrity and academic norms, student registration, training processes, scholarship policies, medical insurance, and student activities. These sessions aimed to help students establish a rigorous academic attitude and quickly adapt to graduate life.
