"Advanced Hydrobiology Course" Received CAS Second Prize for Teaching Achievements

On December 2nd, the seminar “Adhering to the Combination of Science and Technology, Cultivating Innovative Talents” held by Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing brought good news for our institute. The course on advanced hydrobiology jointly offered by our institute and Wuhan Branch, CAS, received the second prize for 2008 Teaching Achievements for “the construction of top quality specialty courses” of the CAS.  

Five people, most of whom are principal teachers and teaching administrative personnel were awarded this prize. They were Prof. Lirong SONG, Prof. Huanzhang LIU, Prof. Qiya ZHANG, Prof. Daming XIE, and Prof. Jing JIN (from Wuhan Educational Base, CAS).  

Advanced Hydrobiology Course as the principal course at IHB has enjoyed a history of 25 years. At present, the textbook of the required course in the discipline of hydrobiology, zoology, environmental science and environmental engineering is Advanced Hydrobiology which was edited by academician Jiankang LIU, and co-edited by several experts at IHB. In 1999, this book was formerly published as one of the “Series of Books on Graduate Teaching at the CAS”.  

In recent years, Advanced Hydrobiology Course is chosen as a basic course of biology discipline taught at Wuhan Educational Base, CAS, and also as an optional course for graduate students from other institutes.  

On behalf of a representative of the institutes located within the administrative area of Wuhan Branch, CAS, Prof. Shouqi XIE, Deputy Director of IHB attended this seminar and received prize in this seminar.
