The Hubei Provincial ecological and environmental protection research project "Assessment of Ecological Health Status and Algal Bloom Early Warning in Honghu Lake" successfully passed its acceptance review on September 8 and 9, 2025. Led by the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences with collaboration from the Innovation Academy for Precision Measurement Science and Technology (APM) of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the project concluded with an acceptance meeting held in Honghu City.

The acceptance committee comprised senior experts from relevant research fields and universities. The meeting was also attended by officials from provincial environmental authorities, the Honghu Wetland Nature Reserve Administration, and IHB leadership and senior researchers.

During the meeting, IHB director MIAO Wei highlighted IHB's long-term research commitment to Honghu Lake, spanning decades of ecological study and restoration work. Honghu Wetland Reserve Director YOU Min emphasized the practical need for scientific support in local ecological management.

Project leader Prof. LIU Biyun presented the team's key achievements, which included establishing an ecological health assessment system, analyzing causes of high turbidity, studying algal succession patterns, and developing tailored submerged vegetation restoration technologies.

After review and discussion, the expert panel unanimously agreed that the project had successfully completed all required tasks with systematic and innovative results, approving its conclusion. They further recommended refining core outcomes to enhance practical application in Honghu's ecological management.
