A delegation from the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led by its Standing Committee member and director of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, ZHOU Yanhua, visited the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on September 24, 2025 for an exchange on fisheries science and technology.

Noting Hainan's commitment to its tropical agriculture and fisheries sector, Director Zhou identified several priorities for deeper collaboration with IHB: introducing aquatic germplasm resources, selective breeding of improved varieties, and developing sustainable aquaculture technologies, with the goal of supporting national food security and fisheries modernization.

Professor MIAO Wei, director of IHB, expressed the institute's commitment to leveraging its scientific and technological strengths in the conservation and sustainable utilization of aquatic biological resources to support the development of Hainan's tropical fisheries. He affirmed IHB's readiness to provide scientific and technological support for the region's fisheries transformation and ecological civilization construction.

The visit has laid a solid foundation for future scientific and technological cooperation in fisheries between Hainan and Hubei provinces.
