The third session of the sixth general council of Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences & the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences were held in Shanghai, December 13th. Mr. Shengxian ZHOU, Minister of China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection sent a congratulatory letter; Vice Minister Mr. Ganjie LI and Mr. Yingmin ZHAO who is Director of Science and Technology Department of the State Environmental Protection Administration attended the council. 

At the opening ceremony, four awards i.e. the 30th Anniversary Memorial Awards of Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, the 7th Awards for Excellent Environmental Scientific and Technical Staff, Awards for Excellent Academic Staff, the 6th National Scientific and Technological Award for Young Scholar, together with honorary certificates and medals were presented to the representatives of prize winners.  

IHB Prof. Zhenbin WU, member of Environmental Biology Branch of Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences and head of the Water Environment Project Research Center received memorial awards. Dr. Biyun LIU and Dr. Shiwei JIN received the 7th Awards for Excellent Environmental Scientific and Technical Staff. Dr. Juan WU and Dr. Qiang ZHAO received the 7th Awards for Excellent Academic Staff. Dr. Shibin XIA, Dr. Qiaohong ZHOU and Dr. Dong XU received the 6th National Scientific and Technological Award for Young Scholar. Besides, Dr. Shibin XIA received Special Recommendation Award of this session.  

Environmental Biology Branch of Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences which is affiliated to IHB was given Excellent Organization Award and Excellent Recommendation Award as a form of encouragement.
