The CAS “Shiyan 3” scientific research vessel successfully finished its one-month cruise survey over northern South China Sea on Sept.21, 2009. IHB students Wenhua TAN and Yang LIU from the Research Group of Biology of Harmful Algae took part in this survey and conducted researches on the molecular diversity and detection of marine cyanobacterium Trichodesmium. 

This cruise survey was carried out in the northern part of South China Sea with a total voyage of 2,400 sea miles. About 57 scientists from 13 institutions participated in this survey.
