Associate Professor of Temple University Visits IHB
On November 26th, Dr. Xiaofeng YANG, associate professor of Temple University came to our institute for academic exchange. In the academic hall on the 8th floor of the laboratory building, Dr. Yang made an academic presentation on the “regulation of immune responses by cell death and antigen selection”.
At the beginning, he talked about the significance of immunology in modern medical and biological research, and based on his work in his own laboratory team, he made a detailed and specific introduction to the important role that Bcl-Xr and TCTP played in the process of T cell activation, the role of E protein played in the process of apoptosis induced by virus, and unique function of Bax and TCTP protein played in the process of apoptosis of regulatory T cells (Treg) and autoantigen transcript model etc.
Dr. Yang explained the significant function of apoptosis and its regulatory protein and antigen played in immune regulation. The report was rich in content and Dr. Yang explained the profound knowledge in a simple way. Hundreds of students and teachers went to attend this academic report and had cordial discussion on problems of mutual interest. Deputy Director Xudong XU hosted this seminar. Dr. Yang also visited some relevant laboratories at IHB.
Dr. Yang enjoys a membership in the American Association of Immunologists, American Association for Cancer Research, American Society for Cell Biology, American Heart Association respectively. Since 2005 he has been an associate professor at the Department of Pharmacology Cardiovascular Research Center, Temple University School of Medicine, and since 2006 he has been an adjunct associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania and Baylor College of Medicine. He has published nearly 70 papers in Science, Proc.Natl.Acad.Sci.USA, Blood, and Immunity etc.
