German Space Biologists Visit IHB
Prof. Braun and his colleagues discussed with researchers of IHB on scientific research cooperation
A three-member delegation consisting of German space biologist Prof. Markus Braun visited IHB during Dec 9th and 10th 2008. The delegaters had discussed in detail with Chinese research partner Prof. Yongding LIU and his team members at IHB on utilization of mutual resources to carry out researches on space biology. They also visited some relevant labs and Museum of Aquatic Organisms at IHB.
Prof. Markus Braun is a biological professor at University of Bonn in Germany and the principal coordinator of the researches on microgravity and space biology in the German Aerospace Center. Prof. Braun’s main research interest is the molecular mechanism of signal transduction of gravity in Chara, a species of green macroalga. He had exchanged research results with Prof. Liu for several times at the Sino-Germany Workshops on microgravity and space biology and had particular interest in the researches of Prof. Liu including space closed aquatic ecosystem and desert algae and its possible exterretrial colonization. Besides, Prof. Braun is active to organize German Institutes to conduct cooperative researches in various fields with the Chinese partners.
