IHB Researchers Attend “Assessment of Freshwater Ecosystems under Global Change (EcoChange)” Conference

 
The conference was jointly chaired by Prof. Nicola Fohrer and Prof. CAI Qinghua.

 

The conference “Assessment of Freshwater Ecosystems under Global Change (EcoChange)” in the framework of the same project which is financed by the NSFC/DFG (GZ 465) was held at CAU Kiel, Germany from September 9th to 13th 2010. The conference was jointly chaired by Prof. Nicola Fohrer, head of the Hydrology and Water Resources Management Department in the Ecology Center of Christian-Albrechts-Universit?t zu Kiel, and CAI Qinghua, Professor of Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB). More than 50 experts and professors from different countries and regions were present at the conference. IHB Associate Professor TANG Tao, doctoral students WANG Lan, WANG Xingzhong and ZHANG Min attended the conference and respectively made presentations.

Four themes were featured in the conference  program: 1. Assessment of global change impacts on

aquatic ecosystems; 2. Interactions of landscapes and streams; 3. Interdisciplinary modeling strategies; 4. Ecohydrological concepts for mitigation. The second annual exchanges program was agreed at the conference.   

IHB researchers exchanged views with their German partners on the joint scientific investigation, sampling, and other issues concerning with the international cooperative project “Integrated modelling of the response of aquatic ecosystems to land use and climate change in the Poyang Lake region, China” which is funded by NSFC/DFG. Both sides reached a unanimous agreement on furthering mutual exchanges and cooperation in various fields.
