Participants of her open defense were: Prof. Jiankang LIU, IHB’s Honorary Director, Dr. Yuan YUAN from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Dr. Wei LI and Dr. Mingxi JIANG from Wuhan Botanical Garden (CAS), Prof. Qinghua CAI, Station Supervisor of Xiangxi River Ecological Station of CAS/China Three Gorges Project Corporation, Mr. Xingyao HU, head of IHB’s Human Resources and Training Office, research fellows and students from some research groups of IHB. Participants had an enthusiastic discussion on Dr. Jahnig’s research at the open defense.

Dr. Jahnig came to work at IHB with financial assistance from German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) from February 2008 to January 2009. Working at Xiangxi River Station of CAS/China Three Gorges Project Corporation (also known as Sino-German Joint Research Station), her research work mainly focuses on aquatic insects and river health assessment of Xiangxi River and its peripheral basin.

Prof. Jiankang LIU highly praised her research and hoped that she could go on her research so as to promote the well-established Sino-German cooperation.

Dr. Jahnig’s subsequent research will closely center on the relevant work conducted at Xiangxi River Ecological Station, thus laying a good foundation for further cooperation between China and Germany.
