IHB Professors and Students Attend the 6th International Symposium on Sturgeon
IHB doctoral students attended the 6th International Symposium on Sturgeon in Wuhan, from Oct. 25 to 29, 2009
The 6th International Symposium on Sturgeon was held in Wuhan, from Oct. 25 to 29, 2009. Towards the end of the symposium, the Wuhan Declaration was announced in order to protect sturgeon and seek harmony between man and nature.
IHB's deputy director Prof. Shouqi XIE who is a member of the Scientific Programme Committee of the symposium led a five-member delegation to attend the symposium. IHB doctoral students Zhiqiang GUO, Ying HUANG and Guifang DONG respectively made oral presentations entitled “dietary lipid requirement of juvenile hybrid sturgeon”, "compensatory growth in hybrid sturgeon acipenser ruthenus linnaeus♂× a. baerii brandt♀, experiencing cycles of feed deprivation and re-feeding” and “sub-chronic toxicity of dietary cyanobacteria on hybrid sturgeon acipenser baeri brandt × acipenser gueldenstaedtii and the fish recovery” at the symposium.
The 6th International Symposium on Sturgeon was organized by China National Aquatic Wildlife Conservation Association and World Sturgeon Conservation Society. It brings together sturgeon scientists, conservation and fisheries experts and students, environmental agencies, enforcement authorities, riverine and marine managers to report and review the latest discoveries and research progress in sturgeon conservation and sustainable development. Over 400 sturgeon experts from 29 countries and regions including Iran, Germany, America, France, Canada, Russia and so on participated in this symposium. The first International Symposium on Sturgeon was held in Bordeaux, France in 1989 and since then, it was agreed that this symposium would be held every four years.
