IHB Scholars Attend 7th International Shallow Lake Conference
The 7th International Shallow Lake Conference was held in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province from April 24 to 28. About 300 scholars from various countries attended the conference. The conference focuses on the response of shallow lake ecosystems to multiple stressors, and steps that can be taken to help conserve, manage and restore these valuable systems.
IHB Prof. SONG Lirong made a keynote speech entitled “Fates of microcystins in eutrophic shallow lakes and artificial ponds: Implications for risk evaluation and management” at the conference. IHB Prof. ZHOU Yiyong, Associate Profs. CAO Xiuyun and WANG Haijun, Assistant Prof. LIU Xueqin, postgraduate student WANG Chouming made presentations respectively and four IHB students presented their posters at the conference.
The International Shallow Lake Conference is the highest conference of its kind in the study of shallow lake. It is organized by Netherlands Society for Water Environment, Netherlands Institute of Ecology and some universities. It is held every three year. This is the first time that this conference has been held in Asia.
